2 Killed In Plane Crash In Montgomery County


MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas - Two people were killed in a small plane crash near a small airfield in Montgomery County on Thursday, officials said.

The twin engine Beechcraft 95-A55 Baron went down in the back yard of a home just a few hundred feet from the end of the runway Williams Airfield, KPRC Local 2 reported.

The victims were Daniel Boyd Williams, 59, who was the pilot, and his wife, Rheta Lynn Williams, 58, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Investigators said the couple was coming from Austin to visit a daughter who lives in the area.

Witnesses saw the four-seat plane flying low before it banked left and hit a tree line.

The family in the home where the plane crashed were shaken up but OK, investigators said. Only tree debris hit the home.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration’s Web site, the plane is registered to DBJD LLC in Austin.

The Texas Department of Public Safety and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office were investigating the crash and the FAA has been notified.

According to FlightAware.com, the plane left Austin-Bergstrom International Airport at 4:40 p.m. Thursday.
