Police officer fatally shoots gun-wielding suspect


Police were on the scene mid-morning May 26 to investigate an officer-involved shooting outside Workforce Solutions in Humble.

One man is dead after an officer-involved shooting in the parking lot of Workforce Solutions near FM 1960 and Whitaker in Humble that started as a dispute between a man and woman shortly after 11 a.m. May 26.

According to Humble Police Department Lt. Jay Wrobliske, the man opened fire at the woman while she was sitting in the passenger seat of a vehicle parked outside Workforce Solutions.

“She got out of the vehicle and he fired several more rounds,” Wrobliske said. “She was struck in the shoulder and transported to Ben Taub Hospital. Her injuries are non-fatal.”

Wrobliske said employees at Workforce Solutions acted bravely when they pulled the woman inside the business to remove her from harm’s way.

An Humble Police officer working extra security at a local bank responded to the shooting within seconds, Wrobliske said.

“The officer observed a male suspect with a pistol and ordered the suspect to drop the weapon,” Humble Police officials said in a press release. “The suspect fired at the officer and the passenger side window of the vehicle the suspect was kneeling beside was blown out.”
